September 11th victims fund
Kenneth L. Zwick, Director
Office of Management Programs
U.S. Department of Justice
Director Zwick:
As a concerned citizen, an educator and a Christian I writing you in an effort to encourage the Justice Department to address an important concern to million of U.S. citizens. I am a professor of political science and have made it my life's work to address the issues of due process , civil rights and liberties for ALL AMERICANS and instill in the youth of our country a belief that the achievement of equality for all is more than a slogan in the United States.
First, I am asking the Justice Department to include among relatives eligible for compensation those who lost their life partners as well as de facto parents or children, without regard to sexual orientation or marital status.
Second, I am asking the U.S. Government to follow the example already set by New York Governor Pataki in granting compensation benefits "on a showing of mutual interdependence with the victim, in recognition that anyone who shared with the victim living expenses, day-to-day activities and the emotional bonds of family deserves help in this time of need."
Sincere regards,
