equal compensation to victums of 911

Kenneth L. Zwick, Director
Office of Management Programs, Civil Division
U.S. Department of Justice

Dear Mr. Zwick-

I am appalled at the thought that the FAMILIES of the homosexual victums of 911 may not be eligable for benefits of government funding. I capitalize the word FAMILIES because that's what they are. They are the loved ones and, in some cases, dependents of those hard working people who were in the wrong place at the wrong time. And they happen had partners of the same sex.....BIG DEAL! Does that mean that they are suffering any less? Why make life harder for those who have been through enough, in these recent events?

Now, more than ever, people need to be proud of who they are and feel empowered to carry on with their daily demands as well as their long term dreams. How about if we responded with equal rights and justice? What if they could feel support from their government to assist them in the same way that conventional, heterosexual families will be assisted? Anything less is injustice. After all, ALL of the families affected by this tragedy were targeted equally, by extreme animosity toward our government. Shouldn't we show the world that what our government and this country stands for is freedom and equality? Or is all of this "Land of the Free" stuff just a bunch of talk?

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
