September 11th Victim Compensation Fund

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to you in response to requests for comments concerning the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund. I am a Rabbi of an upstate Reform synagogue that has an open and welcoming policy towards gay and lesbian Jews. It is unquestionably immoral to discrimate against gay and lesbian families by not affording them the same financial relief than non-gay and lesbian victims of the terrorist attack. Does a child of a same gender family not need food or clothing? Does a gay or lesbian partner of a victim of terror not mourn? Does he or she not suffer from financial devastation due to the loss of an income?

It is imperative that you compensate families justly and without discrimation.
