attn: Mr. Feinberg

Mr. Kenneth Feinberg-

Why is it that the Federal Government must so often be led rather than putting itself in a leadership position? I am speaking about the rules which address reimbursement of gay and lesbian families affected by Sept 11. New York State and even the American Red Cross recognize the legitimacy of the needs of these individuals!

Are the financial needs of lesbian and gay families any different from non-gay families? Is their tax support of the government any different? If they have children, don't their children have the same issues as the kids of non-gay families? The government has no role in moralizing about such issues: the issue here is fair treatment of American citizens who have endured the most unimaginable hardship, deprivation, and loss that the past 2 generations can imagine.

Please keep fairness in mind on this issue. Help push the DOJ (J is for Justice!) into the leadership role it should be in on this issue.

Thank you.
