The concept of "victim compensation" due to the 9/11 terrorist attacks is good; the implementation will be a nightmare. I would hope that there is a maximum amount that can be paid out to any one person/family. Frankly, I would think it would be equitable to pay a set amout, like $100,000 or $1 Million or whatever, to the family of each victim. However, I can't help but wonder if we aren't setting a precendent by doing this; in that after the next disaster, natural or man-made, people will expect or think that they are "entitled" to victim compensation. And finally, the first lawsuit that is filed having to do with 9/11 should be flat out thrown out and not even considered! It is not one company's fault or one person's fault; I mean who would have even considered the possibility of what happened even happening (except Hollywood)? If anything maybe our own complacency and our misplaced need for political correctness contributed.
