Compensation Opinion
I strongly believe that 9/11 victims should be compensated from either
charities or government funds, not both. I disagree with the sentiment that
those contributing to charity will be disinclined to donate in the future if
their funds do not go directly to victims. On the contrary, many donors
might be disinclined to donate again if they knew their donations were going
to victims who had also received taxpayer support. Given our economy and the
many negative repercussions of September 11, I believe double-compensation
would be horribly wasteful.
Thank you for soliciting public opinion.
