rules for victim's fund
To be fair, there should be a limit on total aid received.
I say this as both a taxpayer and a charitable contributer. Financial
resources are finite and the victims eligible for aid are not the only
people to suffer from the WTC disaster; unemployment is climbing and the
economy is stalling.
My opinion is that victims should receive the monies donated to charities
first, including the Red Cross, and the government should fill in the gaps.
The loved ones lost in the disaster cannot be replaced by dollars. While
their families deserve financial assistance, they should not unreasonably
profit at the expense of others.
