I live in Battery Park City of New York, which is only a few blocks away from
WTC. I have a two-year old daughter. We were displaced from our apartment,
and had to purchase everything we needed in our lives in addition to finding
temporary housing. I was also out of job for the period that I was displaced
as our nanny couldn't work any longer. My work did not pay for those days.
I still live in the neighborhood. I smell the awful odor on a daily basis,
but I have to stay until my lease expires next year since I would have to pay
$6,000 penalty to move out.
I am thankful that my family is well, but I also feel that I have not
received a penny of compensation.
