Compensation to Victims of September 11th
Kenneth L. Zwick,
I write to ask that the federal government not discriminate against families
which do not met the traditional definition. We live in a multi-faceted
nation where not everyone fits neatly in the a Judo-Christian model. Many
of those who died had established loving
relationships without the benefit of marriage. The partners of these people
have suffered as grave a lose as those who formalized their love in a
marriage ceremony. To now deny financial support to these grieving people
would be immoral. I do not have to agree with
someone's lifestyle to understand that their love is held just as dear as
mine. According individuals fair and just treatment even thought we
disagree with them is the American way. The people who died September 11th
died because they were in the most democratic nation on earth. That
democracy requires that we treat people equally.
