Dear Attorney General Ashcroft:
I was pleased to see Governor Pataki take action to make sure that the tragedies of September 11th are not compounded for unmarried domestic partner survivors.
I endorse his approach and believe it will ease the grieving process for many of the survivors. It was the humane thing to do, and I hope you and the rest of the federal government will find similar ways of treating and compensating unmarried domestic partners who lost loved ones on September 11th.
The terrorists did more than enough damage. We should not compound it by making surviving more difficult than it needs to be.
