Office of Management Programs
U.S. Department of Justice
Dear Mr. Zwick:
Your Department has requested public comments about regulations to administer the "September 11 Victim Compensation Fund." To honor the very title of your Justice department, compen-sation must be made available even-handedly to all victims of the attack, including committed partners as well as adopted children of gay and lesbian victims.
I strongly support the judgement that devasting grief and economic losses suffered by families of gay and lesbian victims are no less than that of other families. The terrorists did not discriminate in savaging their victims, nor may our country discriminate in compensating those who suffered deep personal (and financial) losses from these gross attacks.
All Americans who lost their lives on September 11 left behind loved ones. Our country's
Department of Justice must assist those left behind on an equal basis, by treating families of gay and lesbian victims along wilh all others.
Thank you for giving serious consideration to this urgent appeal.
Respectfully,
Individual Comment
