Subject: 9/11 compensation disbursements
Dear Director Zwick,
I am writing to support the suggestion made by the National Gay
and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF) that the Department of Justice
should "include among relatives eligible for compensation those
who lost their life partners or de facto parents of children,
regardless of sexual orientation and marital status."
Unless the DOJ adopts this policy, the loss of loved ones to a
terrorist act will be compounded by the loss of any compensation,
compensation the government is happy to give to those who are
allowed to marry. Please do whatever you can to avoid adding
further to the pain felt by these survivors.
Thank you,
