Special Master Kenneth R. Feinberg
September 11th Victim Compensation Fund
U.S. Department of Justice

Dear Mr. Feinberg:
Please ensure fair treatment for all relatives of those who died on September 11th, including the families of low-wage workers and partners and children of gays and lesbians.
Set a high minimum compensation level in order to lessen the disparities between compensation received by lower income and higher income workers who died. One person's life must not be considered to have more monetary worth than another's.
Recognize the legitimacy of gay and lesbian relationships and families in deciding compensation. Gay and lesbian families are especially vulnerable when one partner is killed because the option of marriage is unavailable. Both the Red Cross and the State of New York have announced that they will not discriminate against gay and lesbian families. The Department of Justice should do the same.
Thank you for considering my comments.
Sincerely,
Sincerely yours,
