Dear Mr. Feinberg;
I am writing to encourage you to ensure fair treatment for all families of the
tragedy on September 11 including the children of low wage earners and gay
and lesbian couples and families.
Gay and lesbian families are especially vulnerable when one partner is killed
Because these couples cannot marry they may find themselves in the
unenviable position of trying to prove that they are in a legitimate relationship.
It is not hard to ascertain. My friends and colleagues who are gay and lesbian
have been in relationships for 5- 10-40 years...at least as long as the typical
heterosexual couple. Don't add additional bias and trauma to the lives and
futures of these families
