VCF: Including Domestic Partner Benefits
Dear Mr. Feinberg,
I have just reviewed your Victim Compensation Fund plan and I am disgusted
that you would exclude domestic partners to your compensation plan.
Domestic partners have the same level of commitment to and love for their
partners as heterosexual couples do and to deny them compensation for their
painful loss is to deny this reality. I appreciate that you are trying to
follow state and federal guidelines regarding same-sex relationships,
however these laws are antiquated and do not truthfully reflect the diverse
families of Americans. Please reconsider excluding domestic partnership
funding for families that can prove their commitment to each other (ie:
joint accounts, shared mortgage, auto loans, etc). All American families
have been hugely affected by the September 11th attacks - don't exclude some
families because they don't look like straight middle/upper class, white
families... Show compassion for ALL American families.
Thank you for your consideration. Please contact me if you would like to
discuss this further.
Sincerely,
