Astonished at Your Refusal to Gay and Lesbian Survivors
Our president has called us to make a voluntary
contribution to our fellow countrymen.
I applaud him for making a first step.
However, I see many of my gay and lesbian
countrymen becoming increasingly disillusioned and even bitter because of
unfortunate decisions like this one. I suspect that the decision is based
upon the facilitators' absolute ignorance in managing gay and lesbian issues,
but I am kind. Most of my g and l friends are much more suspect for
understandable reasons.
Get a clue. Now that our numbers are
reaching out to the ever burgeoning bisexual community, decisions like this one
will continue to galvanize the resolve of some and the bitterness of
millions.
For this reason, I urge you to attempt to grapple
with the apparent difficulties in administering such a fund. It cannot be
easy, but it must be done wisely and fairly if you expect such kindler and
gentler attitudes to continue.
I would ask not how many funds were
appropriately placed by this decision, but how many funds were
lost.
