I think it is terribly unfair that gay couples are not being recognized as legitimate unless they are from a state that recognizes civil unions. It means that the spouse in such as relationship is ineligible for Victim's Compensation unless he or she is registered in Vermont. The ruling is insensitive and shows a complete lack of understanding of the commitments gay couples have made for each other.
