Victims' Fund for 9/11
Dear Sirs or Madams:
I cannot state with enough passion how grateful I am to this country
and this government for recognizing the needs and loss the families endured
when they lost loved ones on 9/11. I am extremely upset that the generosity
this country is putting forth is unlimited unless it involves gays and
lesbians. How shameful. I wish I had never contributed now. I wish I had
saved the money I gave and given it only to those that would honor gays and
lesbians. I didn't think this kind of discrimination would permeate through
the united feelings risen in all of us by 9/11. Such a sad day when I read
the "excuse" given on Meet The Press by Feinberg - "Can't go against state
laws" - when earlier he stated that even illegal aliens would benefit from
the Fund. How sad and shameful. I am so angry right now that the religious
right has this kind of influence, even after claiming the cause of 9/11 was
partially due to the acceptance of gays and lesbians.

If this denial of benefits reigns true, and the policy is not fully
changed to include the loved ones of gays and lesbians, I will do any and
everything in my power to make sure this decision effects the reelection of
any supporter - including democrat, republican, or independent. Giving up
one's life on 9/11 should not know any political boundaries. If President
Bush doesn't speak emphatically against denying gays and lesbians equal
coverage, then he does not deserve to label as a uniting President, nor does
he deserve to be reelected. If a Congressman/Congresswoman doesn't do
anything in his power to make sure equal coverage is granted gays and
lesbians, then that Congressman/Congresswoman needs not to be reelected as a
leader of this country.

A decision like this makes an already group of people feel even less
like they are considered an American, even though they suffer like any other
American, love their country like an other American, and would die for it
like any other American. This country is sending a message that illegal
aliens are more deserving than American citizens simply due to whom they
love. How sad, how shameful. Can I have a refund on my donation?
