Blatant discrimination
How dare you choose to discriminate against those victims of Sept. 11 who
happen to be gay/lesbian by denying their loved ones compensation when other
victims' families, children (born or not!) receive aid through this fund.
By choosing to discriminate against these Americans based on the laws of the
states in which they lived, you - as representative of our federal
government - are denying the fact that all people should share the same
civil rights as guaranteed by the FEDERAL, not state, government.
I am shocked and ashamed that an organization such as this fund would let
partisan ethics and biases color its policy in this way. Your message that
there are Americans who perished on 9/11 are less deserving of our sympathy
and compassion than others simply because their lifestyle does not set well
with some Republican (or conservative) sensibilities is appalling at best
and horrific at worst. Shame on you.
