Horrible bigotry in distribution of 9-11 funds

I think it is sad and appalling that when the funds are distributed to help those who lost someone on 9-11, everyone, even illegal aliens, will receive compensation. But if a gay or lesbian lost their partner on that day, then the federal government is simply going to look away and say "well, we'll just leave that to the states to decide". How dare you! This kind of ignorance and bigotry is despicable and puts our government at a par with Osama Bin Laden. Don't try and hide behind excuses like "we think this is a decision best left to the states".      I say. The government should take this opportunity to show how equal America is, how it looks past every difference and says no matter what, we will help you with your loss.

This isn't a question of respecting religious beliefs are "honoring" the time honored tradition of marriage. Don't try and tell me it's going to be hard to figure out who is a partner and who is not, or that if you allow partners everyone will come forward "pretending" to be one. You know as well as I do that these are all lies to hide hatred and fear of that which is different. Change your policy now and come forward stating that all gay and lesbian's partners will receive equal compensation. These people lost someone just like everyone else. You're not God, so don't play at it and pass judgement on who people choose to love. Now is a time to show love, compassion, and equality. Not discrimination.
