Discrimination against gays
On the day of September 11, 2001, the nations heart was broken. However,
never before have I felt more bonded with my fellow Americans. I like many
Americans, began to realize how much I loved my country.
However, with the news that gay domestic partners will not be getting
finacial aid while illegal aliens will has once again made me feel
disenfranchised. Through the first few weeks after this terrible tragedy, I
saw so many good gay people volunteer in downtown Manhattan. I watched as
gay residents of Chelsea and the Village cheered the police and firemen. I
also learned about many gay men who gave up their lives on that day. I ask
that you reconsider.
