Victims of WTC disaster need your help

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to say that I recently learned that domestic partners are not covered by the September 11 Victims Compensation Fund. I think this is wrong and I ask that you change this policy.

My partner and I have been together for 14 years. We own a home together. We are a family in every sense of the word. I would hate to think that if i died in a sudden, unprovoked terrorist attack mitigated on innocent people that my life partner would not be able to receive the

same benefits that any married person would receive - including non American citizen illegal aliens. If society allowed gay and lesbian people to marry most couples would marry, but because of a homophobic society we have been included from the rights every other American receives.

The idea that survivors and victims of the terrorist attacks would not be compensated the same as everyone else in the gravest of hours of their lives is wrong. I would hate to think that if I died this way my partner would not only lose me, but she would lose our house and who knows what else. Would you want this for your children or grandchildren?

Please rethink this discriminatory policy and help ALL Americans who have suffered in this tragedy that includes all people in domestic partnerships -- straight and gay.

Sincerely,

Individual Comment
