Supporting All Victims
Mr Kenneth Feinberg:
As a taxpayer, a citizen, a regular voter and an American Baptist, I am
asking that you please take a moment to read this short e-mail. I am
sure it is not the only one you have received, and that you have many to
consider. Thanks for your brief attention.
The terrorist attacks on September 11th affected ALL Americans. The
terrorists did not discriminate based on race, religion, ethnicity,
socioeconomic status, divorce status, immigration status or sexual
orientation. It is unconscionable that the United States Government
would discriminate in its relief efforts.
You state in your public role that you will only follow state laws when
addressing compensation for same-sex couples. Yet you consciously
override FEDERAL law in providing necessary relief to undocumented
immigrants. You are being clearly inconcsistent.
Regardless of anyone's personal beliefs about homosexuality, the reality
is that gay people suffer, gay people bleed, gay people die. They lose
their loved ones, their homes, their lives. The fight bravely for
others both in our military and in unselfish acts of heroism that
prevented the loss of additional lives on that fateful day.
The attacks of September 11th killed thousands. It killed the dreams of
thousands more. Please do not contribute to the suffering by denying
compensation to those who, unlike yourself, lost the people most
precious to them in those few horrible hours.
ALL people who lost their family members deserve compensation.
