Victim Compensation Debacle
Mr. Feinberg:
I have received a report on your comments on Meet the Press on March 10,
2002 that not all 9/11 victims? survivors will receive equal treatment by
the 9/11 Victim?s Compensation Fund. I am absolutely appalled!
When I contributed not only personally, but also through my trade
organization, banks, credit unions, stock brokerages, etc. on my behalf, it
never occurred to me that not all survivors would be treated equally. I had
no idea that we had classes of victims! It matters not to me the color of a
person?s skin, his/her religion, country of national origin, or whether or
not his/her partnership was sanctified by marriage or the laws of any state
regarding sexual preferences! They died, Damn it, the same horrible death as
everyone else! Their survivors have suffered untold losses, and to fly in
the face of the reality of heterosexual and gay/lesbian committed
?partnerships,? even surpasses the Red Cross debacle! You have made these
people less than illegal aliens, who will receive compensation through
sanction, and it is unacceptable!
Thank God for the gay heroes we know about: , Senator John
McCain?s and our country?s hero, the of the Pentagon plane, and
FDNY?s ! And God Bless the countless unknown gay/lesbian
victims and their partners! Can we not be ?as good an American as he was??
(Sen. John McCain eulogizing .) ?America will overcome these
atrocities?.We will right this terrible injustice?.? Do not create a worse
injustice in the process!
Sincerely,
