Inclusion of All
I just read an article about the September 11th fund and how illegal aliens
are being included without penalty (good, it's nice to know that we are
treating these people as humans), but that partners of gay and lesbian
victims will be included only as their state law allows.
Kenneth Feinberg sounds like mister cop-out on that one. How can he refuse
to go against the states on the issue of domestic partnerships while totally
supporting people who are here in violation of FEDERAL law? Do you really
think that is fair? What exactly does Mr. Feinberg need so that he doesn't
get his precious hiney sued by the states? I will be contacting Attorney
General Ashcroft to recommend that he consider a similarly generous offer
for partnerships as he did for illegal aliens. I hope you are also
considering the importance of this issue, and how completely unfair it is as
it stands.
Sincerely,
Individual Comment
(ps. I am a heterosexual, married citizen from Alabama. I'm not fighting for
my own rights, but those of people who are being discriminated against
regarding this issue. Their pain has been great enough if they lost a loved
one on September 11th - please don't be a source of further pain).
