911 Victims Fund and Gays

At this time of trial in our country, I am appalled by this country's possibly refusing financial assistance to all segments of our population. It doesn't matter to the victim's life partners and family what their sexual preferences were. I find it very troubling that we will assist illegal aliens no questions asked; but totally ignore our citizens with alternative life styles. Kenneth Feinberg, the head of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund (a fund created by Congress and run by the Department of Justice), said that gay partners of the heroes of September 11th will not necessarily be eligible for the same compensation as heterosexual family members who lost their loved ones. The federal government can and should be fair in this matter. I don't care what the laws of the individual states might be. There have been many "Heros" during and since the events of 9/11/2001. They came from all walks of life. When the 911 Fund was set up,I was proud to know that we would take care of our people. As a heterosexual, I never gave a thought to the fact that someone might not be assisted because of their life choices. Please do the right thing, and take care of all our citizens.

Thank you,
