Compensation to same-sex partners
Dear Sir/Madame:
If the article by in About.com is correct, and your policy is
to NOT treat same-sex partners of the heroes of 9/11 with the empathy,
respect and compensation due to all those left behind from this tragedy, then
I am ashamed to be an American today.
I urge you -- no -- I instruct you as a tax paying citizen of this country to
do the ONLY right thing which is EQUAL compensation regardless of "state
law." This tragedy has never been treated as a state issue.... it is a
national concern. It is within the power of the federal government to decide
who receives what financial support for this loss. A support that is, at
it's core, a gesture of good will to the families (heterosexual or
homosexual) of those who perished on our soil.
Do the right thing. Do the ONLY thing and compensate all equally. Their loss
is not less because their sex is the same.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Individual Comment
