9/11 Fund Final Rule comment

I am deeply offended by the portion of the 9/11 Fund Final Rule that eliminates benefits for domestic partners. The Final Rule clearly has made exceptions to Federal law by allowing non-citizens to receive benefits. Yet there is an unwillingness to make exceptions to local laws and allow benefits for domestic partners, including gay and lesbian partners. This willingness to overlook some laws but not others smacks of unfairness, moralistic judgement and gross predjudice.

Gays and lesbians are well-documented victims of the September 11 attacks, and included heroes who were actively involved in fighting the terrorists onboard planes. To deny their partners equal benefits is inexcusable. I ask that you reconsider this decision and let your compassion overcome your hatred.
