Compensation discrimination

Dear Dept. of Justice,

I am firmly against the DOJs decision to not reimburse the partners of gay and lesbian victims of September 11th - some of whom were heroes on that day. Why should their loved ones not receive the same consideration and compensation as heterosexual couples? After all, you are making an exception when it comes to undocumented workers who were in this country illegally and should not be entitled to government money since they are not citizens.

I was once in a same-sex relationship for over 14 years and even had a Holy Union in a church. If we had the option of becoming legally married, we would have taken it. But that option doesn't exist. As a result, the partners of those who died should not be punished for it - especially in light of all the other exceptions being made. The loved ones of those who died on that horrific day have already suffered enough; please do not add to the misery.
