Outrage!!
I would like to express my outrage that the victims compensation fund that was set up to help ALL Americans who were adversely affected by the tragedy of Sept. 11th, has now chosen to discriminate against Gay and Lesbian Americans and their partners. Many of the hero's of these events were honest, loving hard working Americans who just so happen to be Gay or Lesbian and they deserve no less than any other American citizen. It is particularly upsetting to me that under the previous administration, Gays and Lesbians were being included in this family we call Americans. We were viewed as one country, one community who loved and supported our country. Now we have an administration who sees fit to return us to the days of discrimination and divisiveness. An administration who says one thing out one side of their mouth and then does the other when it really matters. If there was anything good that came out of 911, I thought it was the realization that we are one people and one united country. It is our differences and diversity that make us such a strong nation. By your actions in denying fund to Gays and Lesbians and their partners, you as showing just how hollow those gallant words were that came from the mouth of Mr. Bush following this tragedy.
I hope that this decision will be reconsidered and we can once again be a united nation, valuing the worth of every citizen of our great country and their important contributions in keeping it strong!
