Outrageous Treatment of Americans
To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing as an outraged American taxpayer, having
learned that partners and families of gay victims of
the 9-11 terrorist attacks may not be accorded the
same consideration given spouses and families of other
9-11 victims.
As explained to me, the federal program is obligated
to follow various and conflicting state laws that may
or may not accord any rights to the partners of gays
and lesbians. However, you are ignoring all federal
immigration laws by providing compensation to the
spouses and families of law-breaking victims who were
in the United States as illegal aliens. Furthermore,
no steps are contemplated to deport these spouses and
families.
A number of the gay victims have been recognized as
heroes for their bravery on 9-11. To make them second
class citizens, while handing over Americans' tax
money to persons in this country illegally -- who are
criminals for being here illegally -- just makes me
sick to my stomach.
I am not gay, but I am sure ashamed to be an American.
