Regarding September 11th victim partner benefits
re: September 11 Victim Compensation Fund
Discrimination goes against the values that I hold as an American. I am
outraged that gay and lesbian partners of those who died on September 11 are
not automatically going to receive the same benefits as heterosexual spouses.
Is the grief and loss of a gay or lesbian any less than valid than that of a
heterosexual person?
were all gay citizens who lost their lives on Sept 11th. It is extremely
upsetting to me to read that unborn fetuses and illegal aliens will be
recognized and receive benefits, yet our government cannot bring itself to
recognize gays and lesbians for such a great loss.
Can we not break down the boundaries of discrimination in this time of
national grief and need? I call upon our government to declare that gay and
lesbian partners will receive equal benefits to heterosexual spouses from
this fund. Gays and lesbians deserve equal treatment.
