9/11 compensation for gays
Hello -
I just became aware that gay/lesbian victims of 9/11 are not receiving the same benefits as their heterosexual counterparts, including those who are illegal aliens in this country. perhaps i have been misinformed, but if not i definately wanted to respond to this. i hope that this situation will be re-evaluated. I just read some of the bio's of the gay/lesbian victims. Some of these profile individuals who have made exceptional contributions to our country. I don't know how unmarried heterosexual survivors are being handled, but please keep in mind that in most states homosexual partners are unmarried not by choice, but because they aren't given the opportunity to marry under state law. Some of these partnerships have lasted longer than most marriages I know, and certainly more than alot of the marriaged that are being recognized by the survivor benefits. I hope that all in volved will open their hearts and minds to reconsider this situation and allow room for more fair treatment of these homosexual victims and their survivors.
thank you for your consideration.
