administration of the fund
Dear Friends,
I am writing to protest the unfair treatment being given to lesbians
and gay men in the administration of the September 11 Victim
Compensation Fund. I find it deplorable that the partners of lesbians
and gay men who were killed or injured in the attacks will not be
receiving the same benefits as heterosexual spouses.
This is especially disturbing because illegal aliens will be receiving
benefits, and will not be subject to arrest and deportation. If the
USA can extend help to these people, can we not help our American gay
and lesbian brothers and sisters who have lost partners?
Also disturbing in this is that it is a slap in the face of heroic
Americans on that terrible day:   ,   , and
among others who are gay or lesbian.
It is time for our government and country to stop finding ways to
divide Americans into Us and Them, and to realize that we are all part
of this time of trial.
Sincerely,
Individual Comment
