Compensation for g/l partners
As a Christian and an American, I fully support offering the same (equal)
benefits to same-sex partners and families of gay and lesbian victims of
Sept 11 as those offered to heterosexual victims. I am an associate member
of a congregation that recognizes and affirms same-gender committed
relationships, one of the more than one thousand American congregations
that publicly affirms g/l committed relationships. Further, as an
elementary school teacher in these United States of America, I've proudly
led the pledge to the American flag each school day for more than 30 years.
Let us not as a nation betray its promise, "with liberty and justice for
all". Not justice for "straight" Americans...but justice for all! It's the
American way of justice to not discriminate against gay and lesbian Sept 11
victims and their loved ones. I believe it's also a matter of following
God's law: Love your neighbor as yourself; do unto others as you would have
them to do you. I urge that the Victim's Fund not be used in such a way so
as to discriminate against the same-gender partners and families of gay and
lesbian victims of September 11.
