Saddened and Disheartened
Dear Sirs:
I am overwhelmed by sorrow at hearing that surviving gay and lesbian partners
of the horrific events of September 11th will be discriminated against in
receiving financial compensation for their losses.
How can you put a dollar amount on the death of loved ones? Were their lives
worth a dollar or thousands of dollars? I am sure the survivors will agreed
with me when I say that NO amount of money can fill the void that was so
callously made by the terrorists. As the dust settled in New York and the
fires burned to embers at the Pentagon, hundreds of thousands of PROUD
Americans gave selflessly of their time, energy, and finances to those poor
victims and their families..... families that INCLUDED gay and lesbian
partners and their CHILDREN. What makes them LESS OF AN AMERICAN than a
heterosexual family unit? Who decides to pick which of the hundreds of
children robbed of family members receives relief and which are left to
suffer without assistance from their country? I would really like to know
the names of those spineless people because there is NOTHING American about
the pain and discriminate they will be delivering to those poor families and
their defenseless children. Haven't they suffered enough from these
events...... Haven't we all?
Shame on you, whoever you are.
Sincerely,
Individual Comment
