A travesty...
To Whom It May Concern:
How dare you? How could you be so inconsiderate and selfish as to
exclude gays. Subsitute the words: black, jewish, female, or hispanic and
see if you are quite so ready to jump on the bandwagon. How dare you take
my hard earned money and then decide who is worthy of benefits. Please
explain to me how the thinking goes that an illegal immigrant to this
country is going to recieve benefits, but a citizen who lost their partner
is not worthy of the same consideration.
If you think that my judgement is harsh, then look ahead fifty years
from now and imagine history's judgement of you. In textbooks today we are
taught that slavery was wrong, despite the "majority" opinion. I suspect
that history texts will solemnly dwell on the heroes of 9/11 and scathingly
report your picking and choosing of benefits compensation.
