Compensation for 9-11 victims

I am horrified, outraged, and ashamed to learn that the U.S. government is planning to withhold compensation for the domestic partners of homosexual victims of the 9-11 terrorist attacks. Did the gay and lesbian victims of 9-11 suffer any less than heterosexual victims in the final minutes of their lives? Do their surviving partners experience any less grief, or economic loss, than the family members of heterosexual victims? Is the U.S. Dept. of Justice so completely callow and so rigid in its heterosexist morality that it will refuse to treat all the victims of this tragedy equally?

As an American citizen, and a person of conscience, I demand that the DOJ treat all surviving spouses and domestic partners equally in its compensation plan. To do otherwise is to make a mockery of justice.
