Discrimination is UN-American: Outrageous treatment of Gays, Lesbians following 9/11

To Whom It May Concern;

It seems that IF my partner and I lived in Manhattan and one of us were a victim in the attack on the World Trade Center or IF we lived in Washington, DC and one of us were a victim in the attack on the Pentagon, that the survivor would be dealt yet another blow after losing their spouse! My partner and I have been together almost 20 years, own our own home, have two "fur-kids", are involved in our community and are hard-working examples of a gay family. I cannot believe in the year 2002 that the treatment of gay and Lesbian surviving partners of victims on 9/11, but also survivors of GAY HEROES are being ignored and made to feel further HATRED by the United States! Are Americans that SPINELESS that the Religious Right can have influence over such pathetic decisions as to allow further discrimination of gays/Lesbians?

I think that this time, hatred and discrimination HAS to be put aside for once and for all. It's time to treat those that have suffered (not only what we all have suffered since 9/11) the loss of their spouse to the VERY SAME TREATMENT AS HETEROSEXUALS!

Please, I urge you to reverse that decision of the Dark Ages and take that progressive step of fair treatment to ALL, regardless of sexual orientation.

Yours Truly,
