No Gay Discrimination!
I am alerted by recent e-mail posts and articles that suggest that gays
may not be eligible for the same compensation offered to other victims
of the 9/11 catastrophe, including even illegal aliens.
The 9/11 disaster showed America that gay persons were among the heroes
that came forward in our time of need.   , gay rugby player,
was among the handful that may have saved Congress from being a target.
One of the   who flew into the   was reportedly gay, as
were a number of policemen and firefighters who willingly ran into
danger for the sake of saving others.
Denial of their partners and loved ones the same benefits accorded to
everyone else sends a message that America does not value the lives of
gays equally, and that it remains acceptable to discriminate against
gays. Distribution of benefits should be determined based on federal
standards and not states law.
