Survivor Benefits re: lgbt 911 victime

I am incredulous to read that surviving partners of gay, lesbian and transgendered victims of the 911 tragedies are not automatically included in the benefits program for other surviving partners/spouses.

The root problem, of course, is that lgbt Americans cannot marry in this country. That very un-American discrimination will eventually end; however, excluding lgbt survivors now only compounds a travesty of equal justice that our lawmakers seem slow to rectify.

Laws seem to be getting bent all over the place in order to qualify survivors, including those of illegal aliens. I find it insulting that it is ONLY lgbt survivors who are told that their benefits must be determined according to the letter of the law. Did our laws really anticipate a 911 situation?

Think about what you are doing and saying. Upon reflection I am sure you will finally do the RIGHT thing.

Thanks for listening. Sincerely,
