Gay and lesbian partner compensation

To Whom It May Concern,

It's an outrage that the 9/11 Compensation fund excludes partners of gays and lesbians. There were many gay heroes on that day, including                      (who helped bring down the plane in PA) and                      (who died in the line of duty when the first tower fell), and countless others. We shame their heroism and their memory by neglecting their spouses who, just as their straight counterparts, are left to take care of their families and grieve in the wake of this grave incident. Rest assured that the gay community and the majority out there who support equity in compensation among all spouses and families will make their voice heard if this issue is ignored. This is simply prejudice, not just a legal matter. Because if were simply a legal matter, we wouldn't be giving compensation to the families of illegal immigrants. Do the right thing and include all families who lost loved ones that day. It's less than American to do anything else.

Thanks,
