Unfair distribution of 9-11 funds

Mr. President:
We cannot allow the Sept. 11 fund to discriminate against U.S. Citizens. If this event did anything it brought us together as Citizens of this great country. Heroes come in all sizes and shapes and, yes, sexual orientation - but all are heros.

I am disappointed, hurt and embarrassed that there is talk from our government that we will not give money to the families and loved ones of gay and lesbian Americans. This cannot be our government making this decision.

Sir, I am a very proud American, my Father and step-brother both fought in WWII. I love my country and all who make her great. Please, sir, you MUST stop this discriminatory practice now.

I work with a group called Diversity Dramatists that bring the message of understanding and acceptace of all cultures. We try to open people's eyes to examine their hearts about their personal prejudices and stereotypes. What in the world is the message our govenment is sending? Only if you are hetrosexual are you permitted to reap the rewards of a hero or an American Citizen.

You and our government have allowed for illegal alliens to receive benefits and I am proud of that decision. They gave their lives like so many others for our country and whether or not the laws of our land say they are entitled, it appears we have done the right thing and will pay them and their loved ones. Shouldn't the standard be the same for our gay and lesbian citizens?

Mr. President, please, do the right thing! May God bless and guide us all.

Your fellow American,
