9/11 compensation

Ladies and Gentlemen:

As a gay American, I am shocked and horrified that the government's 9/11 Fund intends to compensate American gay and lesbian victims of the 9/11 tragedies, their families and loved one at a lower level than any other victims of the attacks, including undocumented illegal aliens.

Regardless of people's individual opinions about whether being gay or lesbian is a "socially acceptable" form of human existence, the heroic actions of these Americans on September 11th should transcend all political barriers.

You and your administration have no right to "play God" and judge these people as being less worthy of receiving acknowlegement and financial compensation for their losses of September 11th. Using the excuse of "falling back on individual state law" is pitiful and deeply flawed. Such policies make me ashamed to call myself a loyal American.

Look deep into your hearts and see if you are truly serving the God of your understanding by these hateful and discriminatory decisions.

Very truly yours,
