To Whom It May Concern:
Unfortunately, the events of 11 Sept. 2001 did not
surprise me much. I work at a residential treatment
facility serving youth who have suffered severly
various forms of abuse. In an all-too-real way, I
deal with terrorism on a daily basis. Unfortunately,
I am also not surprised to hear domestic terrorism
continues to thrive. Heterosexism is terrorism. It
is a culturally acceptable form of terrorism in the
U.S. Please do not perpetuate it.
The partners of gay and lesbian persons who died in
the tragic events of 9/11 deserve just as much
recognition or their pain as their heterosexual
conterparts, even if this is simply in the form of
monetary compensation. Their loved ones have been
taken from them. Please, do not be the ones to pour
salt in their wounds due to faulty heterosexist
ideology.
Sincerely,
