9/11 fund unfair to gays
I am extremely upset and outraged that your group would not extend the same
benefits to lesbian and gay partners of victims who died on 9/11 as are being
provided to heterosexual partners, fetuses, and illegal aliens. How is it
that you manage to draw the line with lesbian and gay partners in an effort
to negate those relationships, even when you know nothing about them. No one
seems to be worrying about the heterosexuals involved and the relationships
they had. There are even identified lesbian and gay heroes for that terrible
day and they have become important along with every other type of hero on
9/11, yet their partners are suddenly pushed into the background and not
given benefits because others feel it is their right to discriminate against
lesbians and gays. Someday, when reason and compassion prevail, this
insanity and extreme prejudice will be seen in the same light as earlier
prejudice and discrimination against other minorities. Until then, I protest
this injustice and add my voice to those of others feelings disenchanted and
outraged by this latest attempt to invalidate our efforts and further
discriminate against lesbians and gay men.
