Gay and Lesbian Families
I cannot express how disappointed I am to hear that the gay and lesbian partners of September 11th victims will not receive the same benefits that other victim's families will be receiving. Not only are these people grieving the loss of their partners, but they are having their government turn their backs on them during them during a time of need. I know of many homosexual couples who want to get married but cannot because their state refuses to grant them that right. I also know of many heterosexual couples who refuse to get married because they do not want to support the government's continued discrimination of homosexual people. At this moment, I ashamed of my country.
