Sept 11th Victim Compensation Fund
Dear Mr. Zwick,
I am writing to express my outrage at the recent
public comments about the September 11 Victim
Compensation Fund. It is completely unacceptable that
the partners of gay and lesbian heroes of September 11
will not necessarily receive the same benefits as the
spouses of heterosexual victims of the horrible terror
attacks.
What a slap in the face to learn that while gay and
lesbian partners of victims won't automatically
receive equal benefits, the illegal aliens and fetuses
of victims' partners will! It is outrageous to
believe that gay and lesbian persons are of lesser
value to our society than are unborn fetuses and
illegal aliens. Those who believe in such injustice
are completely prejudiced and homophobic. It is an
embarrassment that you represent the American people!
Reconsider the decision to provide gay and lesbian
survivors with unequal, disproportionate compensation.
Certainly our relationships mean more than whatever
percentage you have determined we deserve as compared
to the rest of the victims' families.
