Compensation for partners of gay victims
To whom it may concern:
I read today that partners of gay people who were killed on September
11, 2001 may not be eligible for victim compensation. I am outraged by
this. How can anyone discriminate against one portion of the population
like that? It is a dire insult to the heroes who died who were gay. How
would you feel if you were discriminated against in this manner because
even though you were a partner to a hero, you had brown hair or smoked
cigarettes and somebody considered that sinful? This is a moral outrage.
Do not allow this to be the policy governing our country's response to
September 11. It is mean-spirited and bigoted. Gays are the last people
to be included as human beings in our country.
Thank you.
