9/11 fund
I am outraged that gay and lesbian partners of those who died on September 11
are not automatically going to receive the same benefits as heterosexual
spouses. It amazes me that even after this nation has suffered such a great
tragedy, that the families of "selected" individuals will have to suffer even
more. "United we stand, divided we fall" seems to be more like "United we
stand, with the exclusion of gays and lesbians ... until we need their tax
dollars, support, etc."
The victims of 9/11 worked in our country, paid taxes in our country, and
supported our country. I do not feel that now is the time for our nation to
turn our backs on those who paid the price of being an American with their
lives, regardless of their lifestyles. This is a sad time for all of us, and
now is not the time to make judgments.
Respectfully,
